Mandy Jimmie is a Language Champion who provides vision and hope to all of our communities.

Mandy is fully committed to ensuring that we will always have fluent Nle'kepmx language speakers. She worked in language programs even before she became a practicing teacher. She is currently the Language Coordinator at Nicola Valley Institute of Technology (NVIT), and in this role she has successfully implemented the Developmental Standard Term Certificate program in partnership with Thompson Rivers University.

With NVIT, Mandy has worked with 9 linguistic groups in the province and NVIT is in talks with 5 more to accredit language courses. Currently, 200 students in more than 20 language courses are being served.

Mandy is a true lover of language. Every person in our communities knows that her purpose is to continually develop and build upon the knowledge of our Elders.

Mandy has sat on the local school district First Nations Education Council and been an advocate for young language students in both K-12 and post-secondary settings.

In terms of her vision and hope, Mandy is committed to working with other language groups in the province and throughout the Indigenous world to assist each other in developing our languages.

Mandy Jimmie is a catalyst for growth and development in First Nations languages and we all hold our hands up to her.
