Sliammon First Nation

The Sliammon Community today, resides just north of Powell River in British Columbia, on the Sliammon reserve. The Sliammon (ɬaʔaʔmɛn) First Nation is one of the 20 Coast Salish native tribes inhabiting the coastal regions of western Canada. Community information

The Sliammon reserve lies on a portion of land between Powell River and Lund directly opposite Harwood Island (also reserve land). The community has over 1000 members with the majority living on the reserve.

Language information

The Éy7á7juuthem language is taught in local public schools and at the Elders Lodge from September to May, every Sunday from 1pm-3pm. The Sliammon Cultural Department also has language CDs available for purchase. There are 2 sets, one specifically on the language, and the other; stories, history and songs.
