Map of B.C.
Inlailawatash, located at the mouth of the Indian River on Burrard Inlet was a large, seasonal fish camp used by Tsleil-Waututh People for over 800 years. The name Inlailawatash means 'go inside place' in the Tsleil-Waututh langauge. Today, the remains of the precontact village site include house platforms, post holes, trench enbankments, and evidence of cooking/fires. Today, the Tsleil-Waututh have two reserves at Inlailawatash and it continues to be an important area for resource harvesting, particularly salmon fishing and drying.
