Description

Slhxí7lsh means "standing man" in Hul'q'umi'num'. This widely recognized rock formation stands near the seawall trail in Stanley Park. This area is significant to the Musqueam, Squamish and Tsleil-Watuth Peoples, who have lived and traveled through this area for millennia. Slhxí7lsh is a transformer site, embodying the story of a young man preparing for parenthood through ritual bathing. He was turned to stone, and Slhxí7lsh is a reminder of his commitment to his child.
